Equipping Youth for Employment (EYE) Project
Comprehensive TVET system modernization and teacher training program
Comprehensive Equipping Youth for Employment (EYE) Project implemented in partnership with Asian Development Bank and GIZ to systematically modernize Myanmar's TVET system through training of 710 vocational teachers in didactics and modern pedagogy, development of competency-based modular short courses (CBMSC) aligned with National Qualifications Framework standards, integration of digital learning solutions for inclusivity enhancement, and implementation of comprehensive teacher training programmes that foster Global Gateway's digital and green transformation objectives while strengthening institutional capacity for sustainable vocational education delivery.
Myanmar's transition to democratic governance and market-oriented economic development necessitated urgent modernization of its vocational training infrastructure, which had suffered from decades of underinvestment and isolation from international best practices. The country faced critical challenges including inadequate teacher training systems, outdated curricula disconnected from industry requirements, limited institutional capacity for quality assurance, and insufficient integration of modern pedagogical approaches. With over 70% of the workforce employed in informal sectors lacking formal skills recognition, the TVET system required comprehensive transformation to support economic diversification, youth employment, and alignment with ASEAN regional integration objectives while addressing pressing skills gaps in construction, manufacturing, and emerging digital sectors.
Systematically modernize Myanmar's vocational training system through comprehensive training of 710 vocational teachers in didactics and modern pedagogy, development of competency-based modular short courses (CBMSC) curricula aligned with National Qualifications Framework standards, specification of training equipment and skill standards with integrated assessment frameworks, and implementation of digital learning solutions that enhance inclusivity, support Global Gateway's digital and green transformation priorities, and establish sustainable institutional capacity for ongoing TVET system improvement and labour market responsiveness.
