Dual Training (Dual System)

In the dual system, apprentices spend part of their time in a TVET institution acquiring theoretical and general foundations and part of their time in a company applying and developing skills under real working conditions. The model is most closely associated with German-speaking countries and is widely adapted in development cooperation as a route to labour-market-relevant skills and a structured school-to-work transition.

Successful dual or cooperative training depends on a functioning partnership between the public training system and the private sector: shared occupational standards, qualified in-company trainers, coordinated curricula, and quality assurance across both learning venues. indeson supports governments and partners in designing and piloting such cooperative arrangements.
