The East African Community is a regional integration bloc whose members work towards a customs union, a single market and common technical standards. For each member it widens the market open to goods, services and labour, while requiring alignment with shared regulatory and quality requirements.
Somalia joined the Community in March 2024. Turning that membership into expanded agricultural trade depends on bringing national standards and inspection systems up to the bloc's requirements — a focus of indeson's advisory work in the country.
